The Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of instigating chaos at the funeral of the late Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Ernest Kumi, in the Eastern Region.

The incident, which occurred during the one-week observation in Wenchi, nearly turned violent when NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, was reportedly confronted by some NPP supporters.

Speaking after the event, Gbande condemned the development, describing it as an attack on the dignity of the funeral gathering.

“See what they’ve done at a funeral. We’ve taken notice of it, and it will redefine our relationship with them going into the election,” he stated.

The NDC has warned that such incidents could heighten political tensions ahead of the polls if not addressed.
