Asante Kotoko snap up former Accra Lions defender Musah Hamzata on three-year deal – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have strengthened their defensive department with the capture of former Accra Lions centre-back Musah Hamzata on a three-year contract ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

The 23-year-old versatile defender, who earned plaudits as one of the most consistent performers in the domestic topflight during his time with Accra Lions, was on the radar of several Premier League clubs including Medeama SC, Aduana Stars and Nations FC.

However, the Porcupine Warriors won the race for his signature in what many analysts regard as a significant addition to their backline.

Hamzata is renowned for his aerial strength, calmness on the ball, and leadership qualities in organizing the defense.

His style of play fits into Kotoko’s rebuilding process under a new technical direction following last season’s struggles, where defensive lapses proved costly in their pursuit of silverware.

The lanky centre-back has already linked up with his new teammates in camp as Kotoko prepare for the GHALCA Top Four tournament, although the Reds have endured a shaky start with consecutive defeats to Bibiani GoldStars and Heart of Lions.

With Kotoko determined to mount a serious challenge for both domestic and continental glory this season, the arrival of Hamzata is expected to inject solidity, depth, and renewed confidence into the defense.
