“I Am Not In Retirement… Watch This Space” – KT Hammond Eyes 2028 Parliamentary Comeback

The former Adansi Asokwa MP, Kobina Tahiru Hammond, has hinted at a potential return to the political arena in the 2028 elections as reported by Ghana Web.

Speaking after the Obuasi High Court dismissed his petition challenging the victory of Godwin Dorani of the National Democratic Congress, Hammond confirmed he is not stepping away from politics.

“I am not completely in retirement. I had to return to my law books to sharpen a few things. But I am not in retirement, if that is what you think. In any event, as I said, watch this space,” Hammond told journalists.

Hammond expressed concerns over the 2024 parliamentary election results, suggesting that the NDC’s win was influenced by irregularities rather than electoral merit.

He pointed to ballot boxes discovered at unauthorised locations, stating that the situation contributed to his defeat.

He also cited voter turnout issues, noting that some supporters of his New Patriotic Party did not cast their ballots, a factor he believes played a decisive role in the December 7 election outcome.

These circumstances, Hammond argued, made the electoral process in Adansi Asokwa “beyond description,” highlighting his frustration with what he described as a chaotic voting process.

With ambitions to reclaim his seat, Hammond is positioning himself for a strong comeback, potentially adding to a long and distinguished parliamentary career.
