“Bring Your CV for Comparison” – Ayensu-Danquah Fires at Prof Jinapor Over ‘Professor’ Title

The controversy surrounding the academic credentials of Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has escalated as she responded directly to the Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Prof Ahmed Jinapor as reported by Ghana Web.

The dispute centers on the use of her “Professor” title, which has sparked public debate in recent days.

In an interview on CTV, Dr Ayensu-Danquah dismissed the criticisms as attempts to tarnish her reputation.

According to her, the regulator should have handled the matter formally rather than engaging in public commentary.

She went further to throw a direct challenge to Prof Jinapor, urging him to present his academic records for comparison. “I want Honourable Jinapor to bring his CV for us to compare,” she stated.

Defending her credentials, Dr Ayensu-Danquah insisted she legitimately earned her title as a professor of surgery.

She revealed that she heads a global surgery department at a campus in Utah, underscoring her involvement in international academic and medical work.

Beyond her engagements abroad, she highlighted her ongoing commitments in Ghana, including residency training programmes and extensive research in areas such as breast cancer, quality assurance, and surgical care improvements.

For her, the uproar over her qualifications is not only misplaced but also undermines her dedication to public service.

She stressed that her decision to remain in Ghana, rather than focusing solely on international opportunities, stems from her desire to contribute meaningfully to the country’s healthcare sector.
