Thanksgiving service held for Omane Boamah, Baafemi Anala – Citinewsroom – Comprehensive News in Ghana

A solemn thanksgiving service has been held in honour of the late Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, who tragically lost their lives in the August 6 military helicopter crash.

The service, held on Sunday, August 17, at the Christ the King Catholic Parish in Accra, brought together government officials, family members, friends, and members of the public to pay tribute to the life and legacy of the late minister.

The two were  part of eight individuals including top government and military officials who died when the helicopter they were travelling in crashed en route to an anti-illegal mining event in Obuasi.

At the service, tributes poured in describing the two as as committed individuals, patriots, and men of deep integrity who dedicated their lives to national service and peace building efforts.

The thanksgiving service comes just days after a state funeral was held at Black Star Square on August 15, followed by a burial at the Military Cemetery in Tse Addo.

President John Dramani Mahama, and the First Lady Lordina Mahama were in attendance. Other high profile persons including Vice President Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Minister of Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa ; Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh were also present.
