Majority of Ghanaians approve of Mahama’s handling of the economy

A July 2025 poll has shown that about 74% of Ghanaians have approved of President John Dramani Mahama’s handling of the economy so far.

The poll, conducted by Global InfoAnalytics, showed that 74% of respondents approved of the president’s performance, while 18% disapproved and 8% had no opinion.

Out of the respondents, 45% of those who belong to the New Patriotic Party approved, while 45% disapproved.

94% of those who belong to the National Democratic Congress, however, approved of the president’s handling of the economy, and 76% of floating voters also approved of the same.

A World Bank report has also noted that the government is focused on fiscal discipline, macroeconomic stability, and growth, remaining committed to institutional and legislative reforms.

“Fully implementing these reforms is crucial to realising the benefits of poverty reduction and inclusive growth. The reform agenda is expected to bring macro-financial stability while gradually opening fiscal space for pro-poor and pro-growth investments.

“Delays or partial implementation of reforms pose significant risks, including renewed fiscal pressures, diminished investor confidence, and compromised service delivery,” the report noted.
