Afia Pokuaa, also known as Vim Lady and the host of Egyasogyaso on Okay FM, commented on the sacking of former IGP Dr. Akuffo Dampare, explaining what she believes influenced former President John Mahama’s decision.
She claimed on air that Dampare was removed because he prioritized public perception over the well-being of his officers.
She accused him of marginalizing regional police leaders, consolidating authority, and claiming sole credit for policing successes, which led to discontent and weakened cohesion within the police service.
Vim Lady also reported the arrest of a suspect connected to the 2019 assassination of journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale.
The suspect, once a colleague of Suale, reportedly gave a photo to a powerful political figure shortly before the murder and had previously been expelled from Tiger Eye PI.
Pokuaa attributed Dampare’s dismissal to his failure to care for the police internally, poor handling of high-profile investigations, and a leadership approach that alienated colleagues.
