A football fan from Uganda, Kyemba David, has gone viral after publicly renouncing his lifelong allegiance to Manchester United before the 2025-26 Premier League season on Friday, August 15, 2025.
Clutching a Bible, he solemnly recited a vow, proclaiming his eternal devotion to Arsenal until his last breath.
In a video shared on social media, Kyemba peeled off his Manchester United jersey and replaced it with Arsenal’s, the red and white crest symbolising a faith reborn.
It’s a dramatic mirror to Arsenal’s ambitions: after three consecutive runner-up finishes, Mikel Arteta’s side, bolstered by summer signings like Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi, are more determined than ever to threaten for the title.
As the Premier League curtain rises, Kyemba’s theatrical allegiance switch becomes a poignant metaphor; Arsenal’s fanbase, like him, stands ready to see if this season can finally bring the trophy they want.
With the opening clash on the horizon, all eyes are on whether both the Gunners and Kyemba’s faith will stand firm on the grand stage.
The season’s opener will feature champions Liverpool against Bournemouth at Anfield, while the headline-grabber looms on Sunday, 17 August between Manchester United and Arsenal at Old Trafford.
