Ghana has put to rest the final remains of the 8 gallant men who perished in a painful crash on August 6, 2025, while aboard an Air Force Z9 Helicopter travelling towards Obuasi for a national assignment.

These men, each serving in one national capacity or the other, died from the crash under circumstances that are still shrouded in mystery, although investigations have been launched into the crash.

The eight men are:

Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence;

Alhaji Dr Murtala Mohammed, Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Minister of Environment, Science and Technology;

Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator;

Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress;

Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organisation;

Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Ghana Air Force;

Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu, Ghana Air Force;

Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, Ghana Air Force.

The ceremony at the Black Star Square was attended by John Dramani Mahama, Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, former presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as well as Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
