Top personalities across various political divides are present at the Black Stars Square for the state funeral, on August 15, 2025, for the six victims who perished in the fatal August 6, 2025, helicopter crash.

Among the dignitaries present are President John Dramani Mahama and his spouse Lordina Mahama, as well as Vice President Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

Also present were Speaker Alban Bagbin, former presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, all seated together.

Other political figures spotted at the funeral are Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader in Parliament; Mahama Ayariga, Majority Leader in Parliament; Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the NDC; Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman of the NDC; Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Acting Chief Justice of Ghana; and Alan Kyerematen, Leader of the Movement for Change.

Others are Bernard Mornah, Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor, Sammy Gyamfi, CEO of the Goldbod; Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Chairman Wontumi of the NPP, Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus Glover, and Sam George, Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations.

Religious leaders present include Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Rev Stephen Wengam, Apostle Eric Opoku, Reverend Lawrence Tetteh, and others.

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, was also present.

The state funeral is for the six victims of the tragic military helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.

The eight who lost their lives in the line of duty include Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence; Alhaji Dr Murtala Mohammed, Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Minister of Environment, Science and Technology; Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress; Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organisation; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Ghana Air Force; Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu, Ghana Air Force; and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, Ghana Air Force.

Two of the victims, Alhaji Dr Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, were accorded Islamic state burials at the Military Cemetery on August 10, 2025.
