The Inspector General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) visited the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to express their condolences over the loss of three officers in the recent military helicopter crash.

The ill-fated helicopter departed Accra on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 9:12 a.m., en route to Obuasi with passengers travelling to the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Program (RCOMSDEP).

According to military sources, radar contact was lost shortly after takeoff. Eyewitnesses reported that the aircraft burst into flames upon impact.

John Dramani Mahama has announced that a state funeral will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square in Accra to honour all eight victims of the crash.
