Ghanaian dancehall star Stonebwoy has voiced profound grief following the deadly helicopter crash that claimed eight lives, including two government ministers and military personnel.

Speaking emotionally to TV3 on August 7, 2025, the artist described the accident as a devastating blow for the entire nation.

He revealed deep personal connections to the late Trade and Industry Minister, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and former Ashanti Regional Minister Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, considering both men father figures.

“It’s difficult to comprehend. We are all just shocked… it’s crazy,” Stonebwoy stated, his voice heavy with sorrow. He spoke of Murtala Mohammed’s significant support, calling him “big BHIM nation, big support” and recalling how the minister publicly praised his music during an interview, bridging politics and appreciation for reggae and dancehall.

The tragedy struck during an already painful period for the artist, marking the tenth anniversary of his own mother’s passing this August. “I was already in a certain mood. And then all these were added on. It’s not easy,” he shared.

Stonebwoy emphasized that the loss extends far beyond the families directly affected, calling it a national calamity. He urged the government to take decisive action to prevent similar disasters in the future. “Ghana has been hit,” he asserted.

“The state must employ measures to avoid such disasters.” His call underscores a widespread demand for answers and improved safety protocols after the fatal crash.
