Kwame Baffoe, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has strongly criticized Malik Basintale, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), over a comment made at Prophet Nigel Gaisie’s church as reported by Ghana Web.
Basintale, during his visit on August 3, 2025, expressed support for President John Dramani Mahama, suggesting that concerns over a “third term agenda” would only arise if Mahama fails to deliver on his promises.
Abronye DC responded angrily, accusing Basintale of being part of a covert scheme to promote Mahama’s potential return to power.
“I have all the recordings and even secret videos,” Abronye claimed, asserting that CEOs have been instructed to subtly support Mahama’s bid during church visits.
Further questioning Basintale’s qualifications for his current role, Abronye suggested that Prophet Nigel Gaisie, who has more academic credentials, would have been a better fit for the YEA CEO position.
“Nigel Gaisie went to the same Legon that you couldn’t complete… he has all the certificates and is more qualified than you, but because of propaganda, you have been made CEO,” Abronye stated during his appearance on Ohiani TV on August 4, 2025.
Abronye’s comments point to a growing rift within the NPP as he continues to challenge Basintale’s leadership and raise suspicions about the true motivations behind recent political moves.
His claims, especially regarding the “third-term agenda,” have sparked intense debate about the future direction of the party and the political system in Ghana.
