Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, is set to take a significant step in his bid for the party’s 2028 presidential flagbearership as a group of passionate supporters prepare to pick up his nomination forms on his behalf on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Sources close to the campaign have gathered that a group of committed volunteers has independently resolved to not only pick up the forms but also pay the initial GH¢100,000 nomination fee.

The volunteers, who prefer to remain anonymous for now, said that their decision stems from a firm belief that Ing. Agyepong is the only aspirant with the moral authority and vision to restore the dignity and soul of the NPP.

“This is our own small way of demonstrating trust and belief in a man whose integrity is beyond question,” one of them said. “We see in Ing. Kwabena Agyepong a leader who can bring honesty, discipline, and unity back to the NPP.”

Known for his principled stance and long-standing service to the party, Agyepong has been vocal about the need for a renewal of values within the NPP.

He has consistently advocated for humility, patriotism, and responsible leadership as essential pillars for national transformation.

Agyepong, who previously served as press secretary to President John Agyekum Kufuor and later as NPP general secretary, is widely respected for his unyielding commitment to party ideals and nation-building.

Political watchers say his entry into the race could significantly alter the dynamics of the upcoming contest, especially among grassroots delegates who are yearning for a shift from the status quo.

The picking of nomination forms by his supporters marks the beginning of what promises to be an engaging and potentially redefining campaign within the NPP.
