Osagyefuo Nana Amoatia Ofori Panin Okyenhene
Former MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has disclosed how the now New Patriotic Party (NPP) started from the apartment of a former ambassador to the UN under the Busia government called Ɔheneba Yaw Boakye who is the father of Osagyefuo Nana Amoatia Ofori Panin Okyenhene.
He made this disclosure while speaking about his track record in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Talk Time with Kwesi Pratt on Pan African TV on August 2, 2025.
He stated that his track record in the party stems from being part of the persons who broke the culture of silence which was initiated by the late Prof Adu Boahene.
“I have done a lot for the party. At a time when nobody could talk, when Adu Boahen’s started to talk, we all joined in to break the culture of silence in the party.
“In fact, the organisation which was birth from the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition was started in the apartment of former ambassador to the UN under the Busia government called Ɔheneba Yaw Boakye who is the father of Osagyefuo Nana Amoatia Ofori Panin Okyenhene. And it has grown to become the New Patriotic Party. So, I have been an active part of the building of the NPP since 1991,” he said.
He noted that he has done a lot for the NPP but when he says it, people criticise him that when he does something for the party, he goes out to make it public, a trend he finds quite problematic.
Kennedy Agyapong decried how some persons in the NPP had sought to sabotage him because he speaks truth to power.
He however, indicated that he acknowledges such internal attacks are a part of the political game.
