The experienced transformative midfielder is returning to Spain after ending his five-year stay at Arsenal.
Ghana international Thomas Partey has reached an agreement to seal a sensational switch to Spanish La Liga campaigners Villarreal CF in the ongoing summer transfer window, Kickgh.com can exclusively report.
Partey, who has been unattached since leaving Arsenal last month, has agreed to terms with the Estadio de la Cerámica outfit over an imminent move. He will be unveiled by the club in the coming days.
Arsenal announced they were in talks with Partey over a new contract to keep him at the Emirates Stadium, only for the midfielder to leave at the end of his deal after negotiations hit a snag.
Four days after the Ghanaian midfielder left the club, he was charged by the Crown Prosecution Service with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.Â
The former Atletico Madrid star has, however, denied the allegations and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5.
Partey was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, Juventus in Italy, and Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas FC after leaving the London-based club in June.
However, BeÅŸiktaÅŸ vehemently denied interest in signing the 32-year-old, and the club has said the rumours are completely unfounded, as he is not currently in their wish list of targeted players in this transfer window, as reported by Kickgh.com.
During the five-year stay at Arsenal, Thomas Partey made 167 appearances for the Gunners and managed to score nine goals and provide seven assists across all competitions.
