By Michael Foli Jackidy

Dzodze (V/R), Aug. 1, GNA – A decomposed body of an unidentified man, was discovered hanging from a tree on a farm near the Hand of God Church of All Nations, along the Dzodze-Akanu road in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region.

The unidentified man is believed to be in his 30s.

The grim discovery, made on Wednesday, July 30, revealed a body in an advanced state of decomposition. The man was dressed in a sleeveless top and black shorts.

Due to the condition of the body, the Police were initially unable to retrieve it. However, on Thursday, July 31, officers from the Ketu North Municipal Environmental Health Unit joined the Police to assist with the recovery.

Mr Cephas Horsu, Municipal Environmental Health Officer, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that his team had to fumigate the body before it could be safely transported.

The remains were subsequently conveyed to the mortuary at Dzodze St. Anthony’s Hospital for further Police investigation.

Mr Paul Atsu Avuglah, Assembly Member for the Adagbledu Electoral Area, expressed concern over the incident, stating that it was the second time a suicide by hanging had been reported in the area.

He noted that the body has not yet been identified and called on residents, especially those in and around the Adagbledu Electoral Area, to report any missing relatives.

He said the condition of the body suggests that the incident may have occurred about a week prior to its discovery.
