Accra will welcome mining leaders and investors for the 11th West & Central Africa (WaCA) Mining Summit & Expo on 25–26 September 2025.

The event, endorsed by Ghana’s Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, aims to position the region as a hub for responsible mineral extraction and value-added processing, particularly for battery minerals essential to the global energy transition.

Ghana’s Green Minerals Policy will take center stage, highlighting commitments to local refining, community benefits, and lithium extraction agreements. Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, stated: “Ghana is committed to becoming a hub for responsible and sustainable mining of critical minerals that power the clean energy transition.” The policy prioritizes in-country value addition and transparent governance.

High-level speakers include Dr. Assheton Stewart Carter (TDI Sustainability) on responsible mining, Richard Afenu (Extractive Resources Consulting) on Ghana’s battery mineral potential, and Niger’s Abdoul Aziz Idrissa addressing security in artisanal mining. Case studies on attracting investments and carbon-neutral mining innovations will be featured.

Organized by Singapore-based Magenta Global.
