Ghanaian dancehall musician Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has once again made a bold statement, this time targeting the country’s former Inspector General of Police (IGP).

In a live TikTok session shared on social media on July 30, 2025, Shatta Wale praised the Ghana Police Service for their swift action against a pastor who recently prophesied his death.

During his remarks, Shatta Wale took a swipe at the former IGP, referring to him as a “celebrity police officer.”

He claimed that if the incident had occurred during the former IGP’s tenure, no action would have been taken.

“Shoutout to Ghana Police. The police acted like I was a real citizen. And this is the first time such a thing has happened. If it were some IGP, like, nothing would have been done. He wouldn’t have acted when the pastor talked.

“But if I had acted, he would have heard me, because he is a Facebooker. I have never seen an IGP who loves social media as much as that one. He is a celebrity IGP,” he said.

Shatta Wale’s comments came in response to a viral video by a Ghanaian pastor, Daniel Yaw Donkoh, who claimed to have had a vision in which the musician was killed.

Following the prophecy, news emerged that the Ghana Police Service had taken action. On July 28, 2025, Reverend Donkoh appeared before the Dansoman Circuit Court, where he was charged with one count of publishing false news.

The pastor pleaded not guilty to the charge. The court subsequently granted him bail in the amount of GH¢20,000, with three sureties, one of whom must prove their ability to cover the amount if required.

Also, the court ordered Reverend Donkoh to report to the police every two weeks. The case has since been adjourned and is scheduled to resume on August 27, 2025.
