We Won’t Allow You To Bury Him

Daddy Lumba’s family has issued a stern warning to Odo Broni, forbidding him from taking charge of the musician’s funeral arrangements.

According to Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, the family head and uncle of the late icon, it’s the traditional responsibility of the family to oversee the funeral rites, not Odo Broni’s.

This development follows reports that Odo Broni was preparing to lead the burial process. The family urges the public to respect their decisions and has promised to release an official statement soon.

The nation is preparing to pay tribute to the highlife legend. A candlelight vigil is scheduled to take place at Independence Square in Accra on August 2, 2025, starting at 6 p.m., organized in partnership with the Creative Arts Agency.

A book of condolence has been opened at Daddy Lumba’s private residence in Kinshasha Crescent, Accra, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.

Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set the stage for its 2028 presidential primaries, with aspiring candidates required to pay a total of GH¢600,000 in non-refundable nomination and filing fees.

The nomination fee is GH¢100,000, while the filing fee is GH¢500,000, both payable via Bankers’ Draft in favor of the New Patriotic Party Headquarters in Accra.

Additionally, aspirants will be required to pay a Development Fee, the amount of which will be determined by the National Council.

Several notable figures have expressed interest in contesting the party’s primaries, including Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Bryan Acheampong.

The NPP’s decision to hold its presidential primaries more than two years ahead of the general elections is a strategic move to allow the eventual flagbearer ample time to consolidate support, heal internal divisions, and begin nationwide campaigning.
