Minister of Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has cast doubt on former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s claim that his administration constructed over 10,000 kilometres of roads during its tenure.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series held at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Agbodza said his nationwide tour of road infrastructure since assuming office revealed a significant discrepancy between the previous government’s claims and the current state of the roads.

“As soon as I assumed office, I went around the country to see the roads in Ghana. What I saw was that the over 10,000km of roads former President Akufo-Addo claimed he had constructed cannot be found. In fact, not even a 1,000 kilometres of good road was seen,” he stated.

The minister said his team was unable to locate or verify even a fraction of the reported road network attributed to the former administration, raising questions about the accuracy of infrastructure reporting under the previous government.

Agbodza assured Ghanaians that his ministry is committed to transparency, quality delivery, and the use of verifiable data in tracking progress on road construction across the country.
