Ghanaian passport holders will no longer require a visa to visit five countries so far in 2025, following the ratification of new visa waiver agreements.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced the development via a post shared on his X page on July 26, 2025, as sighted by GhanaWeb Business, he described it as a major diplomatic milestone.
These new travel agreements form part of a broader foreign policy and mobility strategy aimed at improving international access and travel freedom for Ghanaian citizens.
Ablakwa attributed this feat to the government’s continued efforts to position the Ghanaian passport as one of the most respected travel documents globally.
Countries Ghanaians can visit visa-free
1. Morocco
On June 12, 2025, Ghana signed and implemented a ‘No Visa Policy’ with Morocco for Ghanaian passport holders.
This marked a major step toward enhancing people-to-people exchanges, tourism, and business opportunities between the two nations. It also aligned with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 vision of a borderless continent.
2. Mozambique
Ghana’s visa waiver agreement with Mozambique allows Ghanaian travellers to freely explore the country’s long stretch of Indian Ocean coastline.
Mozambique offers some of the world’s most beautiful beaches and vibrant marine life, making it a prime destination for relaxation and ocean-based adventures.
3. The Commonwealth of Dominica
Known as the “Nature Island” of the Caribbean, Dominica’s visa-free access opens doors for Ghanaian tourists, craftsmen, and artisans to experience breathtaking mountain landscapes, thunderous waterfalls, and lush rainforests.
An ideal destination for adrenaline seekers and nature lovers.
4. Colombia
Colombia, with its rich cultural heritage and scenic landscapes, has emerged as a global tourism gem.
This agreement will foster stronger cultural and tourism exchanges, potentially increasing revenue and tourist traffic between the two countries.
5. São Tomé and Príncipe
Home to dense rainforests, unsplit beaches, and abundant wildlife, São Tomé and Príncipe is a hidden treasure of Africa.
The visa waiver presents Ghanaian eco-tourists and nature enthusiasts an exciting opportunity to explore this captivating island nation.
These visa waiver agreements mark a pivotal moment in Ghana’s travel history, enhancing the global mobility of its citizens, empowering its passport, and laying the foundation for Ghana’s emergence as a top-tier global tourism destination.
I am grateful to Parliament for unanimously ratifying 4 Visa Waiver Agreements which I presented to the House earlier this week.
Visas are no longer required by Ghanaians to travel to São Tomé and Príncipe, Columbia, the Commonwealth of Dominica and Mozambique.
