Roman Fada, former manager of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has revealed that he has received positive indications from the Presidency regarding a possible state burial for the musician.
He expressed confidence that President John Dramani Mahama will honour the music icon with the farewell he truly deserves.
Speaking to the media on July 28, 2025, at Daddy Lumba’s private residence in Accra, Roman Fada disclosed that discussions are already underway to ensure the late singer receives a dignified burial.
“We have received positive feedback from the Presidency, and I believe that John Dramani Mahama will respond to the public’s call by granting him a befitting burial,” Roman Fada said.
He added that, given the close bond between Daddy Lumba and the President, as well as Mahama’s longstanding support for the creative arts, he is optimistic that the request will be fulfilled.
“I know the kind of love the current President, John Dramani Mahama, has for the creative industry and the strong relationship he shared with Daddy Lumba,” he stated.
Ghana was struck with the sad news of Daddy Lumba’s passing on July 26, 2025. The music legend died at the Bank Hospital in Accra, where he had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
According to sources close to the family, Daddy Lumba had been admitted a few days prior but sadly passed away at dawn.
By midday, news of his death had spread across the country, prompting crowds of fans and well-wishers to gather outside his East Legon residence to mourn the icon.
