Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary Highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, following news of his passing on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
In a Facebook post, the former president described Lumba as a dear friend and a towering figure in Ghana’s music industry whose influence extended beyond entertainment into national politics.
“Daddy Lumba, as we affectionately call him, was a pantheon among musical greats of all-time and had a special connection with his fans and the entire nation,” Akufo-Addo wrote.
He highlighted the critical role Lumba’s music played in his political life, especially during his presidential campaigns, describing the late musician’s songs as “lasting contributions to my presidential journey.”
“These songs will forever be etched in the annals of the political campaign of the New Patriotic Party,” he added.
Akufo-Addo extended his condolences to the family and fans of the late icon, praying: “May he peacefully rest in the Bosom of the Almighty until the Last Day of the Resurrection, when we shall all meet again.”
Daddy Lumba’s passing has triggered a wave of national mourning, with tributes pouring in from across the political divide, entertainment industry, and the general public. He was 59.
