Lil Win Shócks Ghanaians As He Exposes What NIB Did To Him Over Upcoming Movie

Renowned Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, has revealed that he has been contacted by Ghana’s National Investigations Bureau (NIB) and the National Security Secretariat regarding his forthcoming film centered on Burkina Faso’s transitional president, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

In an interview aired on Y102.5 FM in Kumasi on Thursday, the actor disclosed that the two security bodies reached out to him with inquiries about the film’s potential diplomatic and national security implications. The film explores Traoré’s rise to power during the 2022 military coup in Burkina Faso—a politically sensitive topic given the wave of recent military takeovers across West Africa.

“The BNI invited me, and later I received a call from National Security. It was about the Traoré movie,” Lilwin said during the broadcast. According to him, the discussions mainly focused on whether the film could unintentionally provoke political tensions or be seen as endorsing unconstitutional power grabs.

The actor emphasized that the project is meant to educate and engage, rather than to stir controversy. “This is not about promoting coups. It’s simply storytelling about a significant figure in our current political landscape,” he explained.

Known for his comic roles that often carry social messages, Lilwin is taking a more serious approach with this biographical production. The movie, set to premiere in Kumasi on August 2, represents a shift in the actor’s creative direction as he tackles real-world political narratives through film.

To build anticipation for the release, Lilwin entertained listeners by delivering a few lines in French—mimicking Traoré’s persona—and hinting at the depth of his preparation for the role.

With growing public interest in the region’s political developments, the upcoming premiere is expected to attract widespread attention, both for its subject matter and Lilwin’s bold foray into political cinema.
