The blaze broke out on the evening of Wednesday, July 23, 2025
The studios of Kumasi-based Pure FM have been ravaged by a devastating fire, reducing the facility to ashes.
The blaze broke out on the evening of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, during a live broadcast at the station’s Patasi premises.
Preliminary reports suggest that an electrical fault may have triggered the fire, although this has not been officially confirmed as investigations are still ongoing.
Despite a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service, the inferno destroyed significant parts of the facility, including valuable broadcasting equipment. Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
In the aftermath, Pure FM has temporarily suspended all programming to assess the extent of the damage and cooperate with authorities in the ongoing investigation.
This incident bears a striking resemblance to a similar fire in March 2023, which gutted the studios of another Kumasi-based station, Silver FM, during a live broadcast. In that case, a faulty air conditioner was suspected to have caused the blaze.

I’m completely exhausted. We’ve just spent over three intense hours battling the fire that broke out at Pure FM studios. Thankfully, we managed to save the building, but we lost all our studio equipment. We’ll be off air temporarily, but we shall rise again! pic.twitter.com/AJLQkqsL69
