Former Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, was among the dignitaries present at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Delegates Conference on July 20, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The former Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, who was assaulted during the Ablekuma North election rerun on July 11, 2025, was dressed in white and draped in a party scarf as she walked through a group of security personnel to the venue.

Speaking to the media, Hawa Koomson called out President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang for remaining silent on her assault, saying she was not surprised by their reaction because she does not belong to their party.

Meanwhile, the former MP has rejected claims that she was responsible for the violence that erupted during the parliamentary rerun in the Ablekuma North constituency.

Hawa Koomson maintained that she had no role in the disturbances, insisting that accusations against her were politically motivated.
