“Pouring Water Into A Basket” – Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe Explains Why He Stopped Paying NPP Dues

A founding figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has declared he remains a committed member of the party but will no longer contribute financially due to what he perceives as a departure from the original values as reported by Ghana Web.

In an interview, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe expressed concern over the party’s current direction, stating that he would not allow himself to be sidelined by individuals who, in his view, lack an understanding of the NPP’s historical roots.

He dismissed attempts by younger members to challenge his stance, stating his critical role in the party’s formation.

“I am a member of the party and I will forever remain a member of the party. Nobody can push me out of that party,” he insisted, reinforcing his long-standing association with the NPP.

Despite holding on to his membership card, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe revealed he has ceased paying party dues.

He attributed this to disillusionment with what he described as the party’s transformation into a “money-making machine.”

According to him, financial contributions now feel wasted, likening it to “pouring water into a basket.”

There is growing concern among party veterans and supporters about the deviation from founding ideals of public service, transparency, and accountability.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe’s position shows a call for introspection within the party, as he urges a return to principles that once defined the political identity.
