A communication team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and presidential staffer, Beatrice Annan, has condemned the recent alleged assault on former Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mavis Hawa Koomson, during the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun on July 11, 2025.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Monday, July 14, 2025, Annan emphasised that the NDC does not support political violence in any form, regardless of the victim’s political affiliation or past actions.

“We do not condone violence, and we condemn, in no uncertain terms, every act of violence that occurred during the Ablekuma North rerun,” she stated.

Beatrice Annan, while expressing concern about the incident, questioned the motives behind the attack and why it allegedly targeted a woman.

“Why didn’t they fight their fellow men. This is a selective aggression,” she indicated.

She further clarified that the assault was not sanctioned by the government, distancing officialdom from the act.
