Mahama bids farewell to German Ambassador, reaffirms strong Ghana-Germany ties

President John Dramani Mahama has bid farewell to outgoing German Ambassador to Ghana, Daniel Krull.

He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Germany.

Speaking in Accra on Monday July 7, President Mahama described as highly productive Ambassador Krull’s four-year term and called for deeper cooperation especially in economic development and security.

He thanked Germany for its continued support in strengthening Ghana’s security and commended it for it continuous contributions to the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre and training for security personnel.

He emphasised the need to counter rising terrorism threats, particularly in the Sahel and expressed Ghana’s readiness to work closely with Germany on targeted capacity training programmes to combat the growing threat of terrorism, especially in the Sahel.

On irregular migration, he highlighted Ghana’s partnerships with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the European Union (EU). He stressed the importance of creating local opportunities to deter dangerous migration routes.

President Mahama expressed gratitude for Ambassador Krull’s service.

“We appreciate you. You’re a friend of Ghana. You’re always welcome to visit. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours,” he said.
