Felix Kwakye Ofosu is the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications
The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has stated that the John Dramani Mahama government will construct over 2,000 Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) facilities, popularly called CHPS compounds.
According to him, this will be achieved through a government directive requiring every district in the country to construct two CHPS compounds every year, using a share of their District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).
He said that under this requirement, over 600 CHPS compounds are expected to be constructed across the country every year, starting from 2025.
“Each district is required to construct two new CHPS compounds this year, each district. So if you put that together, we are talking in the sense of almost close to 600 CHPS compounds that will be put up this year alone, or at least work on them will start this year.
“If we maintain the tempo, that should give us over 2,000 CHPS compounds in the next four years,” he said while addressing the media in a video shared by GHOne TV on June 29, 2025.
He added that the move would be “a significant step towards improving healthcare services for the people of Ghana.”
