Hamza Suhuyini, A communication team member of the National Democratic Congress
A communication team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hamza Suhuyini, has slammed the suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, questioning both her conduct and constitutional understanding after her public briefing on June 25, 2025.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on June 26, 2025, Suhuyini described the Chief Justice’s recent public remarks regarding her suspension as an ‘act of desecration’.
According to him, her act of desecration and her understanding of the 1992 Constitution is basis to even establish her incompetence.
“Her act of desecration and her understanding of the 1992 Constitution is basis to even establish her incompetence,” Suhuyini stated.
He argued that a suspended Chief Justice should be held to the highest standards of constitutional knowledge and decorum, suggesting that Justice Torkornoo has fallen short on both counts.
Suhuyini’s remarks come amid ongoing national debate surrounding the Chief Justice’s decision to publicly comment on probe on petitions aimed at her removal from office – a move some legal experts have also described as inappropriate.
