The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has expressed disappointment over the unexpected postponement of its scheduled meeting with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, warning of potential consequences if key agreements are not implemented by July 2025.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, June 26, 2025, the Association disclosed that the meeting, which was intended to address critical concerns raised during their recent strike, has been unilaterally rescheduled to July 10, 2025, by Parliament.

“The meeting the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health scheduled for today, June 26, 2025, has been unilaterally rescheduled to July 10, 2025, per a letter received from the Parliamentary Services yesterday, June 25, 2025. The reason given was that ‘This decision follows the unavailability of some key stakeholders who are currently unavoidably outside the jurisdiction,’” it noted.

The GRNMA further stressed that any further delays will not be tolerated.

The Association withdrew its services on June 9, 2025, to protest the delays in implementing their 2024 Collective Agreement, which includes unpaid allowances and delayed postings.

The industrial action caused significant disruptions to healthcare delivery across the country.

The strike was, however, suspended on June 13, 2025, following the intervention of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health and widespread appeals from the general public.
