‘Tarnishing Reputation’ – Barker-Vormawor Criticizes OSP for Misinterpreting Gyampo’s Message

Activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor has criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for the handling of a message sent by Professor Ransford Gyampo during an investigation into Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) as per reports from MyNewsGH on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

The OSP had implied that Gyampo interfered with a search warrant by sending a WhatsApp message to Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.

Barker-Vormawor took to Facebook to share the contents of the message, which read, “Your shut down of the SML Server would rather cause financial loss to the State.

He expressed disappointment in the OSP’s interpretation of the message, calling the press statement issued by the office “bad faith.”

He further stated that the office’s response was aimed at tarnishing Gyampo’s reputation.

Barker-Vormawor stated that the Special Prosecutor’s office should have exercised greater maturity in handling the matter.

“Let’s be circumspect in public office,” he advised, adding that public criticism should not lead to personal attacks.

In his defense, Prof. Gyampo clarified that his message was intended to express concern, not interfere with the investigation.

“I only expressed the hope that your intentions are patriotic and not personal,” Gyampo explained, asserting that the OSP’s insinuations were unwarranted.

Barker-Vormawor concluded by urging the public to make their own judgments on the issue, pointing at the need for restraint in sensitive investigations.
