Electrochem Ghana is deepening its commitment to women’s empowerment and local economic development through its Women Support Scheme which has already provided interest-free loans to more than 120 women in the Ada region this year alone.

The initiative enables women to start or expand businesses in sectors such as agriculture, retail, beauty, and tailoring.

Beneficiaries have used the funds to invest in critical tools and infrastructure— from market stalls to sewing machines — creating sustainable income streams that support families and uplift communities.

Since its launch in 2021, the scheme has supported over 500 women entrepreneurs, financing diverse ventures including poultry farms and tailoring cooperatives.

By eliminating interest on loans, Electrochem ensures that every cedi borrowed goes directly into the hands of women building their futures.

“Empowering women is essential to building stronger communities and resilient local economies,” the company stated, highlighting that beyond financial support, recipients also benefit from mentorship and peer networking opportunities that help grow their confidence and leadership.

Electrochem is now calling on NGOs, microfinance institutions, and corporate partners to join forces in scaling the impact of the initiative.

The company is also encouraging eligible women to connect with its Sustainability team to learn more about how to access the scheme.

“These 120 new recipients are not just business owners—they’re catalysts for growth, innovation, and dignity in Ada,” the statement added, underscoring the transformative ripple effect of empowering women at the grassroots level.
