“Overwhelming Support” – 98% of NPP Council Voted for 2026 Primaries, Says Miracles

Director of Communications for the Bawumia 2024 Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has revealed that 98% of National Council members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) supported the proposed date for the party’s presidential primaries as reported by Citinewsroom.

The internal elections have been scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Miracles Aboagye, speaking on Channel One TV, described the strong endorsement as evidence of internal consensus among key party stakeholders.

He cautioned against the public expression of dissenting views after such overwhelming internal agreement, calling it “completely anti-party.”

He emphasised that while divergent opinions are welcomed during internal deliberations, continuing to air them in the public space after a final decision is reached could jeopardise party cohesion.

“Now, immediately you move that dissenting view into the media space, all you are doing is planting discord in the minds of people, knowing very well that this is a minority view,” he stated.

However, the party leadership maintains that the process leading to the decision followed established guidelines.

General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Frimpong Koduah, earlier affirmed that the date was recommended by the constitutional review committee and subsequently endorsed by the National Council.

He also stated that the decision was final and would not be revisited at the delegates’ conference, as the authority lies with the Council.
