GJA Elections: GNA’s Caesar Abagali to contest GJA’s Public Affairs Officer position

Wa, (UW/R), June 21, GNA – Mr Caesar Abagali, the Upper East Regional Manager of the Ghana News Agency (GNA), is contesting the Public Affairs Officer position of the Ghana Journalists’ Association (GJA), pledging to strengthen internal communication, promote inter-regional collaboration, and enhance the Association’s public image. 

In an interview with the GNA in Wa, Mr Abagali said his decision to vie for the position stemmed from his unreserved commitment to the advancement of journalism in Ghana and the desire to ensure a more connected and respected GJA.  

He believed that enhancing internal communications within the GJA would improve information flow and engagement among members of the Association at all levels. 

Mr Abagali also expressed optimism that promoting interregional connectedness would foster unity and collaboration across branches while reviving the GJA’s public interface would restore public confidence and goodwill towards journalism. 

He stressed the need for the GJA to have a database and pledged to help bring other reforms into the Association for it to regain its past glory if elected. 

Mr Abagali comes to this position with a vast repertoire of leadership skills and experience having served in various leadership capacities, including as GNA Regional Manager for the Northern and Upper West Regions.  

He also held key positions within the GJA including the Regional Secretary and Regional Chairman for the Northern Region as well as a member of the Association’s National Executive Council. 

The seasoned journalist was a three-time award winner for his outstanding reporting on human rights abuses and sanitation and hygiene.  

He also played a significant role in the revision of the GJA Code of Ethics in 2016, helping to shape the professional standards guiding journalism practice in the country. 

Mr Abagali holds a Diploma and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), as well as a Master’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of Cape Coast. 

“I believe my experience, qualifications, and passion for journalism place me in a strong position to serve effectively as Public Affairs Officer.  

I look forward to the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the growth and integrity of our noble Association”, he added. 

Mr Abagali appealed to members to support his candidature in the upcoming elections, assuring them of transparent, inclusive, and strategic public affairs leadership.
