Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. Stephen Amoah, also known as Sticka, has faced heavy criticism following remarks he made about religion, resource distribution, and political discrimination in Ghana as reported by MyNewsGH on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
Speaking to TESCON students in Kumasi, Dr. Amoah claimed that Muslims are often denied leadership roles in Ghana, citing their supposed “divine link” to resource-rich areas globally.
However, former party executive Ahkbar Yussif Rohullah accused Dr. Amoah of bitterness coming from his failure to secure the Finance Minister role.
Rohullah revealed that Dr. Amoah, frustrated after Dr. Mohammed Amin Anta was appointed to the position instead of him, had allegedly directed his anger at Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the decision.
“Sticka believes being a Christian made him a better candidate than Dr. Amin,” Rohullah stated, calling his mindset a “dangerous” threat to the party.
Rohullah strongly defended Dr. Anta’s appointment, describing him as far superior in both experience and service to the NPP.
He further warned that Dr. Amoah’s remarks posed a threat to the unity of the party, urging the General Secretary of the NPP to take swift action to address what he termed “dangerous rhetoric.”
