Appointments Committee to vet Justice Ackaah-Boafo today after petition delay

The Appointments Committee of Parliament will today, Friday, June 20, 2025, vet Supreme Court nominee Justice Kwaku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo, following the lifting of a temporary suspension of the process.

The vetting was earlier halted after a petition was submitted by one Anthony Kwabenya Rau, who accused the nominee of misconduct during a court proceeding.

According to the petition, Justice Ackaah-Boafo allegedly insulted and disrespected Mr. Rau, calling him “arrogant” and “power drunk.” The judge, however, has firmly denied the allegations.

Justice Ackaah-Boafo is the final nominee in a group of seven justices from the Court of Appeal who were nominated by former President John Dramani Mahama for elevation to the Supreme Court.

Today’s vetting is expected to bring finality to the scrutiny of all seven nominees.

The Committee’s recommendations will be forwarded to the plenary for approval or rejection.
