Agona Swedru (C/R), June 17, GNA- Mr Frank FreeBody Mensah, Agona West Municipal Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), has unveiled plans to facilitate more job creation for the teeming unemployed youth to enhance living standards.
The Municipal Director said his office had put measures in place to create more jobs for the youth, aside the National Youth Employment models being rolled out by the YEA to add more opportunities for the youth to be employed.
Mr Mensah, who spoke to the GNA in an interview at Agona Swedru, said some stakeholders had been engaged in that direction on his assumption of office two months ago to localise job creation in the Municipality.
Supermarkets, Insurance companies, cement depot, bars, restaurants, hotels and others have been contacted to give job vacancies to the unemployed youth.
He called on the youth to rush to the YEA offices to look for jobs, instead of sitting on benches, homes and many other places complaining of no jobs.
He stated that YEA was instituted by the government to harness and create jobs and wealth for the youth in the country, especially those in Agona West in fulfilment of the Party’s promise during the 2024 election campaign.
The Municipal Director announced that recruitments of Community Police Assistants, Fire Service Assistants and Prison Service Assistants were ongoing and urged qualified applicants to apply online via YEA to enable them to be employed.
He said these models of YEA have been rolled out and urged them to embrace other national youth employment models in the areas of hair dressing, dress making and many others.
Mr Mensah said government was poised to create more enabling environment and congenial atmosphere that seek to promote the wellbeing of the teeming youth to gain employable skills to assist them become responsible adults.
