Ho (V/R), June 14, GNA – Mr. Emmanuel Agbaxode, the Chairman of the Volta/Oti Regional Branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and Madam Ewoenam Kpodo, the Regional Treasurer, have both picked the number two spot on the ballot as they seek re-election for a second term in office.
The balloting exercise, which took place in Ho on Friday, June 13, 2025, was supervised by Mr. Benjamin Aklama, the designated Electoral Officer for the regional polls.
Both candidates, who are journalists with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), expressed optimism about their chances, interpreting their shared ballot position as a symbol of continuity and renewed mandate.
“We believe picking number two reflects the start of our second journey. It’s a positive sign that our second term victory is not just possible, but assured,” said Mr. Agbaxode in an interview with the GNA after the balloting.
The duo has been key figures in the leadership of the regional GJA over the past term, with Mr. Agbaxode spearheading several capacity-building initiatives and media engagement programmes.
Madam Kpodo has played a central role in ensuring financial accountability and mobilising resources for the Association’s activities in the Volta and Oti regions.
Their decision to seek re-election comes as the GJA prepares for both regional and national executive elections scheduled for Sunday, June 30, 2025.
Members of the association across the country are expected to vote to elect new leaders who will steer the affairs of the GJA for the next term.
The elections are being closely watched, as the Association faces increasing calls to play a more proactive role in media development, press freedom advocacy, and welfare improvement for journalists.
