The Minority in Parliament is urging the government to honour its commitments under the May 2024 Conditions of Service agreement with the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA).
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Health Committee, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie, expressed solidarity with the nurses and warned that the Minority will join them should they resume strike action.
“We got to a position where four of their demands were to be implemented this year. With Parliament mediating, we guaranteed that at least two will be fulfilled. We’ve asked the nurses to deliberate and revert,” the Effiduase-Asokore MP stated.
He emphasized the Minority’s full support for the nurses, adding, “If this deal breaks down, the Minority will join them. This will not be mere politics—we’ve crossed the threshold of reasonableness, and entrenched positions may follow.”
