Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Johannesburg, Professor Robert Ebo Hinson, has emphasised the importance of strategic marketing in agribusiness.

He urged participants to be intentional in applying marketing principles to drive wealth creation.

According to citinewsroom.com, during the Citi Business Festival session on X Space, June 12, 2025, he explained that many agribusiness ventures struggle or fail due to the neglect of key marketing and branding fundamentals.

“Branding matters at every stage of the value chain”, he stressed.

Professor Hinson’s remark explains the need for agribusinesses to adopt a strategic approach to marketing, one that considers the entire value chain, from production to consumption.

By doing so, agribusinesses can unlock new opportunities, increase competitiveness, and ultimately drive wealth creation.

He stated that effective marketing strategies can also help agribusinesses to better navigate the complexities of the market, respond to changing consumer demands, and stay ahead of the competition.
