Sam George is the Minister of Communications Digitalisation, and Innovation
The Minister for Communications, Digitalisation and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has addressed the press regarding the rising cost of mobile data services in Ghana, a concern that continues to affect millions of consumers and businesses across the country.
In his remarks, the Minister reaffirmed his commitment to tackling the high cost of internet data, which has become a significant barrier to digital inclusion, innovation, and economic growth.
He noted that his Ministry had initiated discussions with major telecom operators to explore ways of making data more affordable for Ghanaians.
These engagements, he explained, were aimed at understanding the cost drivers behind data pricing, including infrastructure costs, taxes, and regulatory fees and identifying policy levers that could support more competitive pricing.
The minister is however expected to provide an update in the coming weeks on the outcomes of these negotiations and outline a roadmap for improving affordability and access to digital services nationwide.
