Arsenal remain locked in negotiations with Thomas Partey as the Ghanaian midfielder approaches the end of his contract, with less than a month remaining on his current deal.
According to The Mirror, the Gunners tabled what they considered a competitive offer around 10 days ago, but no agreement has been reached so far. Talks continue, with all parties aiming to find a swift resolution before Partey departs for Ghana on June 10.
Partey, who turns 32 next Friday, is reportedly keen to extend his stay at the Emirates. He feels settled in north London and has no immediate desire to leave.
However, with interest from clubs including Barcelona, the player and his representatives are weighing their options carefully.
Sources close to the player suggest Partey sees this next deal as potentially his final major contract. As such, his inner circle is pushing for terms that reflect his continued value to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The situation remains open, with Partey and his agent, Jose Daniel Jimenez Pozanco, preparing to travel to Ghana for the second edition of the ‘Thomas Partey Tournament’ from June 10–13.
The event, which will feature European scouts observing local talent, underscores Partey’s off-field influence as well.
He is also set to appear at the ‘All Star Festival’ in Accra on June 18.
