I wouldn’t return to Ghana if I were Ofori-Atta – Miracles Aboagye on OSP case

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has weighed in on the ongoing standoff between the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

Speaking on JoyNews’ on Saturday, June 7, Aboagye said that if he were in Ofori-Atta’s position and unwell, he would remain abroad and face trial in absentia.

“If I were Ken, and seeing all that has been done and I am not well, I wouldn’t come. I would prefer to stay and be tried in absentia. I wouldn’t mind being placed on INTERPOL red notice,” he stated.

The OSP recently declared Ofori-Atta wanted after he failed to honour a June 2 deadline to appear before the office.

Although his legal team submitted medical documents citing cancer, the OSP rejected the explanation, reinstated his wanted status, and initiated steps to secure an INTERPOL Red Notice.

On June 5, Ofori-Atta was officially listed on INTERPOL’s Red Notice database, which includes details such as his age, physical description, and languages spoken.
