Let’s embrace positive lessons of June 4

General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has called on Ghanaians to reflect on and embrace the positive lessons of the June 4 uprising, describing it as a pivotal moment in the country’s history.

Speaking at the 46th anniversary celebration of the June 4 uprising held at the Agormanya Lasi Park in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, Mr. Kwetey emphasised the importance of learning from the past to guide the nation toward a better future.

“Ghana must come to terms with June 4. It carried positive lessons, but also taught us how not to rush into certain actions. As the good book says, be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to act,” he said.

He urged members of the NDC and the wider public to rise above partisan interests and petty comparisons, and to focus on a broader national reset that transcends political divides.

“This is a clarion call, not just to point fingers at the NPP. It’s a call that tells the NDC not to lower the bar either,” Kwetey stated.

“We are no longer in normal times. The moment has come for Ghana to take off, and enough is enough if the two main political parties are not ready to rise to the level that is needed.”

Mr. Kwetey further noted that the lessons of June 4 should inspire a transformative national agenda that reflects the aspirations of all Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliation.
