The General Overseer of Alabaster International Ministries, Prophet Kofi Oduro, has expressed strong displeasure over the actions of some New Patriotic Party (NPP) members who stormed the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in solidarity with the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Chairman Wontumi.

In a video shared on X on June 1, 2025, Prophet Oduro, while preaching to his congregation, cautioned Ghanaians against engaging in blind partisan politics.

He emphasised that such behaviour does not contribute to the progress or development of the nation.

“Stop your nonsense. Where is the rule of law? So, assuming the police arrest me my church members would storm the police station to protest for my release while they don’t know what I have done. Let this foolish mindset of this nation disappear.

“Why are you there with blind loyalty?… Stop your nonsense. You want to use the noise to cover the truth. How can you build your nation with just an attitude,” he said.

Sharing his experience during his recent trip to the United Kingdom, Prophet Kofi Oduro added that, unlike Ghana where some people are not law-abiding, it is not the same in the UK.

“When we to the UK there are places where the driving limit is 30km. And you can’t go more than that. If you decide to go against it, you will pay a fine… We should stop that nonsense attitude where people in power can call for the release of a relative when they are arrested,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chairman Wontumi is currently embroiled in serious legal battles.

He is under investigation for multiple offences, including fraud, causing financial loss to the state, and money laundering.

Although he has been granted bail set at GH¢50 million, his legal team is yet to satisfy the conditions required for his release.

EOCO’s decision to keep him in custody has stirred political debate, particularly when Minority Members of Parliament, who claim the detention is politically motivated.
