Sunyani Central Rotary Club hands over 10 mechanized boreholes and 60 microflushed toilets

The Sunyani Central Rotary Club has made a significant impact in the Bono Region by handing over 10 mechanised boreholes and 60 micro-flushed toilet facilities to various communities, institutions, and individuals.

This generous project, valued at $82,500, was made possible through partnerships with the Rotary Foundation, Rotary District 7770, Rotary District 9104, and the Rotary Club of Farmville, USA.

This project aims to improve access to clean water and sanitation facilities, enhancing the health and well-being of the beneficiaries.

Some of the communities and institutions that benefited from the provision of mechanised boreholes and microflushed toilets included Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Sunyani, Atuahenekrom MA Basic School, Atronie Methodist Basic School and Nwowasu Community.

The rest were SDA Basic School, Sunyani, St Ambrose College of Education, Dormaa Akwamu, St Joseph’s Catholic Basic School, Krosua Number 2, Timber-Nkwanta and Mensahkrom.

President of the Sunyani Central Rotary Club, Ing Professor Jones Louis Arthur, in an interview, said, ” What we are doing is to help humanity, which is part of our mandate. There are still many dotted communities in the Bono Region that have challenges with water and sanitation. We will contribute our quota to ensure people get potable water to drink.”

Ing Professor Arthur encouraged people to join the club, and he dispelled the notion that the club is a cult.

“I am an Adventist. However, I am a member of the club. The club is not an occultic club as people perceive. We do our things in the open, and I encourage people to join.”

The headmaster of Atuahenekrom MA Basic School, Kwadwo Asante, expressed appreciation for the provision of a mechanised borehole for the school.

“Water was a big challenge for the school, pupils have to go home whenever they come to school, and they are taste. The provision of this mechanised borehole will improve sanitation in the school and also stop the practice of pupils always going home to drink water.”

Florence Dabuo, the administrator at the Abesim Health Centre, on her part, was grateful to the club for the gesture.

“The provision of this water system has come at the appropriate time as it goes a long way to greatly improve our water as we attend to our clients,” she said.
