Ghana is set to strengthen its domestic labour policies through enhanced international collaboration as the country takes an active role in this year’s International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conference in Geneva.
Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, Minister for Labour, Jobs, and Employment, who is leading the Ghanaian delegation to the global event, said the platform offers a crucial opportunity to align Ghana’s labour reforms with international best practices.
In a statement issued on Saturday, May 31, Dr. Pelpuo emphasised that Ghana’s participation is not just symbolic but strategic in reshaping the country’s job creation agenda, improving workplace safety, and expanding social protection for workers.
As Co-Chair of the ILO Conference, Dr. Pelpuo is expected to play a pivotal role in steering global discussions that impact employment trends worldwide. The event brings together representatives from governments, employers, and worker unions to set international labour standards and promote decent work.
Ghana’s delegation will also present updates on national labour initiatives and pursue bilateral cooperation with other countries in areas such as job creation and industrial relations.
